Just wondering if the belly looks good in the shark. I noticed the belly is a little red. After looking at the video it looks like veins. Just looking to see what other people think.

This video is a little better.

It's a little red. Keep an eye on it. If it gets worse, my suggestion would be kanamycin.

Thanks is there any alternatives to kanamycin? Maybe something which can be administered orally? The directions say that a 25% water change should be done everyday. The shark is in a 50 gallon tank which is hooked up to a 90 gallon tank. The whole system is 140 gallons. 25% is a lot of water to change. I am planning on putting him in my dads system in a few days which is 450 gallons, which will mean a 100 gallon water change will have to be done daily.

Should I worry about the other fish in my dads system getting sick from this shark? Here are some videos I took today.

Here is some other information which might help. First the shark is not upside down. There is no substrate in the tank. The videos I posted are taken from underneath the tank facing up. The tank is grounded, salinity level 1.024, ammonia 0, nitrites 0 and nitrates undetectable. She is eating and moves in a smooth manner, not erratic and crazy.

Hard to tell from the video if its the same, and I cant explain it (hopefully someone can chime in and tell us why this happens) but I find that with my young sharks in bare bottom tanks they will get red blotching like that if I dont wipe down the tanks at least once a week. Not sure if its any correlation to the bio film type substance that builds up or if its unrelated, but it seems that keeping it wiped down keeps it from happening.

Thanks I see no harm which can be done by wiping the glass, I will give it a shot.

It looks like the rash got worse near the chest and mouth but decreased the area of the body it covers. The aquarium by me has a bunch of shark exhibits and a shark dive. I am going to stop there see if someone there can help.

Do you think it will stress him out to much to flip him over to better observe his belly? The only way I can see what's going on down there is sliding my i pad underneath.

Tonic immobility (flipping them over) is a very good way to get them to relax so you can get a better look at it.

You can use kanamycin orally as well as in the water. How long is your shark nose to tail? I can get you a dose worked up for it if you'd like.

When ever I hear tonic immobility I think of a video were a nurse shark bit some guys lip off. I flipped him upside down and he went limp. It was pretty interesting to see. Can they still pump water over their gills?

Is Seachem Kanaplex good to use? It says it can be used in the water or in food. It also claims that all I need to do is add carbon to remove it. I called several pet shops and non of them carry kanamycin. I was going to go to the aquarium by my house to see if they have any I can buy off them. Because of the holiday they won't be open until Friday.

The shark is a little over a foot. It looks like the rash is getting better, but I never got a great look at it until today. Does the chest also look a little concave?
