How does the Python work. I know u hook it up to the faucet, but does it replace the water that is being sucked out with untreated water???

Can I use the Python take take out the sand substrate out of my tank too?

Yes but simply add your conditioner as you add the new water its no big deal

When I do a really thorough sand substrate cleaning, I stick the python tube deep in the sand and raise slowly to pull up any crap. The sand falls out of the tube, about 98%. Best way to remove sand is just scooping it out.

You can reverse the flow of the python and fill. It will pull sand out, if your flow is strong enough.
