I just got a 75gallon tank that I would like to try the following stock in... let me know what you think..

2 Senegal Bichirs (see questions)
2 severum
1 catfish (rafael prob)
1 school of Tiger Barbs (12)

Does that work out ok? It is filter by a aqua tech 30-60 HOB and a cascade 700 canister... I am going to add another canister at some point as well...

Let me know what you think, thanks...

Bichir question:

Can they survive and be healthy eating only pellet type foods? Thanks for the help...

Stock is fine. The bichirs are fine on pellets. They may try to eat the barbs if theres a big enough size difference

Yes, but stay away from the cheap shrimp pellets, very messy and not real healthy. Carnivore pellets from Hikari, or New Life Spectrum. Also do a search for HBH Super Soft Krill Pellets, suppose to be good as well. But evenually the pellets can become kind of expensive after awhile and some makes the water smell bad too. Just keep alittle carbon in your filter.

Outside of pellets what else would be good as an occasional food to offer a varied diet??

I have read a lot on this and the stickies at the top... I just like to hear peoples exact and personal preferences.... Thanks

I feed mine frozen beef heart, frozen sand eels, ghost shrimp, cut earthworms and massivore/carnivore pellets. I've also feed fresh raw crawfish tails from grocery store, fresh raw mahi mahi. All those sink right to the bottom where bichirs prefer to eat including your rafael catfish which will eat the same thing. Variety is best IMO. Sometimes it can be tough to get them to eat new things, just let them go alittle extra longer without eating and they usually take to what ever is available.

another question.. for the cut earthworms where do you get them from? Backyard??

any store sold worms that are acceptable?
