I have a question for everyone...

What have you sacrificed (like throwing the sofa out just so you can fit that 300 gallon tank in the livingroom!!!) for your set up?

Or how far will you go to get what you need for your finned friends?

Any crazy stories?

Building a 750Gal and have cut half of my basement off for tanks, also gave up every decorating decision in my house reno just so i can have a 340 gal tank in the living room and a 50 in the bedroom.

I didn't think of myself as a monster fishkeeper...but about 12 years ago I bought a 2 inch black pangasius catfish. I put him in a 55 gallon community tank where he stayed stunted for a number of years. I didn't realize that at the time. Eventually I put him in a 75 gallon community tank...then I put him in a 125 gallon community tank. I thought he would stunt again but at the age of almost ten years he just kept growing....and growing. My loving and VERY understanding husband built (from scratch) a 300 gallon acrylic tank that sits in our living room near a 125 gallon tank. (If that isn't love I don't know what is). I worry about what comes next as my once little fish continues to grow. He is very social...and he might even be a she...I don't know if I can get another tank out of my husband and I am NOT eating the fish.

I live 2 years without a table to eat at because of the number of tanks in my apartment. We moved so we would have more room.

Now, we have an entire side of the garage dedicated to a R/O water tower, two tanks in the garage (a 100 and 180), I have 3 tanks in the living room so that half of it is designated to just fish, and we are looking at a 600 gallon build very soon here.

For the move, we had to get everyone over in one weekend which meant moving about 3,000 lbs in a matter of 1.5 days down from the third floor and moved to a new home. I dont remember sleeping much that weekend. Also, because of the amount of effort we were putting into getting all the fish settled at this place, we literally sent the first two weeks here sleeping on a blow up bed. I didn't loose one fish of the probably 150 or so, which included everything from 25+ discus, to 15" TSN's and hybrids, to more random guys than I could hope to count.

I never want to move fish again, but it inevitable. But now we are prepared, and we don't live on the third floor. :)

i have a 15ft 2 level rack in my garage, but that seems to be the norm round here.

WOW...I live on the 3rd floor of an apartment building, I cringe at the idea of trying to bring up a 125 or more gallon tank up two flights of steps which twist and turn...whew...kudos to you!
