Hi yeah I picked 2 of these today, still pretty small at about an inch and pretty skinny.

Just wondering how fast they will grow to adult, I have them in a 10g at the moment with a view to moving them to my 65g when they start to fill out a bit.

I've only been able to find adult dwarves, so have no idea on growth rates.

I have also only been able to find adult dwarf cirni. however I did pick up a few juveniles (about 1.5") a few months ago form my local fish clubs mini auction. They have grown a little in the past 4 months, but I have not had them long enough to give a growth ratio.

Ok thanks guys! Ive had them a few days now and they seem to have settled in well. Looks like I have 2 males but they are still young and dont flare the dorsal fin much (havent seen it happen yet) so I guess it could change.

While Im here settle a discussion for me, my main problem in my big tank is a royal acara. She keeps eating small fish so far shes eaten a school of adult blue tetras and a school of medium red rainbows - will these pikes just be passive and run away or will they "fight" back and avoid being part of the food chain or will they just run from the bigger fish?

I mean once they are adult I wont be that worried I should imagine if they get to what Im expecting but we shall see I guess

It varies. I've had cf. wallacii flare and intimidate a larger (though still juvy) Vieja argentea and compressiceps kill off much larger JD's when the JD's started fights ... but I also lost my first noto's when their male Laetacara thayeri went on a tear and killed them, his mate, and 10 zebra plecos ... and those same cf. wallacii had a hard time with dwarf jewel cichlids (Anomalochromis thomasi).

My regani was able to hand a juvy breeding pair of convicts, but I still seperated due to constant stress. So it's about a 50/50 spilt.

How big is the acara, and what species is it? (not familiar with royal acara, except I have seen royal green terror before).

Its an Aequidens Diadema, I believe shes a she and at the moment shes around the 4 inch / 4 and a half inch mark.

She isnt overly aggressive to my other fish, her and my nic get on fine and same with headstanders and pictus but its just with smaller fish when they are first introduced. She sees them as food especially if they hang out above her.
