how fast do Denison Barbs grow?

Right now I am thinking its a no no, but a place near me has the Denison Barbs I wanted but they are only about 2"s atm and I was wonder if it would be safe to get them now since they are suppost to be really fast or will my 8" Oscar and my 4" Leopard Ctenopoma eat them?

also how fast do they grow anyone know?

I'd leave them, they aren't the fastest of growers and i think that even at 3-4" they could end up as food for that oscar.

Why not go for tindfoil barbs? They maybe a better chioce, provided you have a big enough tank.

I had lemon fin barbs before and they are more of a pain in the butt, always fighting and tearing apart my tank, I thought the Denison would be a bit better at 6"s...

I dont really like my oscar anymore he just sits in one spot all day pretty much except for his daily rounds around the tank... My convict is just starting to get his lump/hump what every you call it so he is pretty cute now ...

^^ meaning I am willing to replace the oscar if I see something better I like or I find a nandus....

There is a Denisoni lookalike called Chalakudinensis ! this gets to about 8 inches and is a more gregarious barb ! though still not really suitable for your tank mates !

I am worried also about the denissi barbs may be oscar food, are they sort of thin to fit into an oscars mouth?
