  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
A higher temperature, a large tank, quality food and frequent water changes will get you the best growth

I agree with Hendre Hendre , I personally grew out 2 inch Geo's took about a year for them to fully mature to 9inch mark.

Think it depends on the species. I was told there not the fastest growing fish. I have a group of 6 males and it's taken about 2 years to get to the 6 to 7 inch mark. That was getting them at about 3 inches.

Although higher than optimum temps can instigate faster than normal growth, they can also create conditions where bacterial and internal problems abound. Frequent water changes help to counteract some of those problems, but allowing a fish to grow at a normal rate may be better in the long run.
Here is a 1.5" Acarichthys heckelli when I first got it.

and 3 years later with proper nutrition, and three 30% water changes per week, at @8"-9".

My redhead fry seems to be growing very slow. Born in late March and as of now they're only an 1" or 1.5". I feed 3x a day with 50% water change a week.

I run my tank at 77 and do 40% water weekly, they are in a 125g I feed once a day. I run my tank as a black water, I am not wanting to get them big fast I was really just wondering what the average grow time is. I have had them just over a month and have noticed some growth from their original size.
