anyone have experience in raising them? like would i be able to tell a difference in size after 3 months if the bicher is 5" right now? the ones they have the the petshop are about this size but i don't want to wait THAT long for them to get big :)

Most of my senegals have grown an inch to an inch and a half per month till they reached 7-8 inches then the growth rate slowed.
that said there seems to be some that grow extremely slow on the market these days but in a normal senegal you should be able to notice growth monthly if not weekly-Anne

Yep, I had fast growth in all of mine. My albino senegals got to about four inches, slowed in length and then started getting porky. They are likely short bodied. My normally colored senegals have caught up to my albinos in just over two months and are going strong. They are not beefing up much, but they are still growing in length.

if you take care of you bichir then you are likely to be having it a long time anways, so who cares how long it takes to get big? raising them from babies is more fun and you can watch them grow up all the way. mine looked like a candle with a fat head when i got him and is now 5 inches after 4 months.

I just got one last week, so I myself, am curious as to how fast they grow. Most Albino Bichirs are Senegals, right? How big will they get as well?

being senegal they should get to 10"-12", like the normal ones. but there are some that seem to stop growing in length when they reach 1/2 to 3/4 the max size. this goes back to what beblondie was saying.
