i wish i knew. THose atabapo's are nice. What is the second one?
They are cave spawners...However it may be problematic because that means they'll be in close quarters together for a long time...Also, they may not be a bonded pair. If he's going after her relentlessly then they might not get along...Introducing another similar shaped fish could strengthen their bond, but that fish which is introduced would most likely end up dead.

I think if you removed the smaller one from the tank it lost all bond with the larger one, and then the larger one set up its territory...once you put it back into the tank, the large one seen the smaller as a rival and finished off.

Atabapo 1 and red face lugubris are two very different species. It's hard enough to breed lugubris pikes with the same species, crossing them would be extremely difficult if not impossible lol. If you want to breed them I would get a female atabapo 1, keep them alone, and I would condition them, feed them alot of goldfish and earthworms then gradually lower the water level and increase temperature, then after a storm do a large cool water change and hopefully that would trigger a spawning. Here's a helpfull link with marmorata pikes (lugubris): http://www.oocities.org/vinnykutty/art-wlmarmorata.html Also lugubris pikes have only been spawned a few times in captivity so it's very hard to do
