I am gonna get my tank set up in less than two weeks. I am gonna use a used filter, but I will still end up with a small mini cycle...

would p. senagalus be able to survive the mini cycle or are they too sensitive? If not I will probably just add the 1-2 kribs in first then.

im not familiar with mini cycles, but i know that bichirs are very hardy and survive even the toughest water conditions, i remember one time i left my apartment for 2 weeks and during that time my pump died, three 4'' peacock bass died, a 8inch royal clown knife died, and the water went ROTTEN and probably sat still, stagnant, and spoiled for over a week (i was away for spring break) i came home my whole apartment smelled like rotten fish, the water was so dirty you couldnt see past 3 inches into the water... my 3 inch endlicheri and 4 inch senegalus's survived the whole ordeal

they do come from backwaters and stagnant lakes where there is very little disoulved oxygen though! that said those dead fish probably sent your amonia, nitrite and then finally nitrate sky high!

I think they're pretty tough. I recently had the worst outbreak of whitespot I've ever had. (came out of nowhere, no new fish, well established filters, perfect water etc). Lost a 6" uaru, 3 4" clown loaches, and a small surinamensis within a week, the last of the clown loaches (I had 4) took ages to come right, and all through it my 8" palmas looked completely normal. Not even one little whitespot, eating well, completely unphased by all the sick and dieing fish!
