What is the highest acceptable room temp for keeping tropical fish?

You ar3 Yonkers..........Experiment with a small glass bowl or a ten gallon tank.............As long as the temp maintains a 78-82 degree level then leave the tank..........You Yonker, your room is not that extreme to ask such a question..........

Tank water is always as warm if not warmer then the air temp.

Oh, yeah. NY probably doesn't even hit 80 that often.

Oh, summer spikes are alright for a well-aerated system. Usually for two or three weeks it hits 90 here, too. I haven't lost any fish in the heat wave so far. Even when I had goldfish it was alright. I just put giant airstones in all my tanks and they cheered right up.
