Recently got a peacock eel, and as he is in a tank with rays and a few other fish, I had issues getting food to just him, especially since I am feeding him frozen bloodworms currently. I tried strategically placing a frozen chunk above his hiding spot (he pretty much stays exclusively in a cutout section of an arena I picked up at petco), but it would dissolve and dissapate before hitting the bottom. Then I came up with a way to make sure only he gets the bloodworms, or rather, that they are at least exclusive available to him first.

I took a glass and added about an inch and a half of tankwater to it
Took a chunk of frozen bloodworms, and let them melt down in the tankwater
Waited until the worms settled at the bottom of the glass.
Used a turkey baster to extract the worms and water.
Used the baster to "inject" the worms into the location he hides out at.

None of the other fish are small enough to get into his hiding area, so until the current carries the worms out the various holes, he has exclusive feeding rights.

Just figured I would throw this out there for people having issues with other fish competing for the eel food once placed in the tank.

Eel Patrick Harris is in good health and is loving his digs so far :)

I too used a turkey baster to get my Fire Eel to eat when he would not.

One point to add though...it is a good idea to defrost frozen food under the tap using a fine fish net.....it is quite widely agreed that the frozen water adds a lot of unnecessary waste to the water.

You can then add it to a glass of tank or tap water and use the baster.

Once they are feeding off the baster you could feed them by hand but this may not be advised with rays.

Thanks for the pro tip on premelting first.
I dont think Ill be hand feeding anything in my tank, benefits dont seem to outweigh the potential risks to me.

Another way is to drop sinking food down a piece of PVC pipe.
