I have read that not leveling the tank can crack the glass when you fill it up. Not sure if its true. I have about a quarter inch drop from the back of the tank (higher) to the front of the tank. Is this an issue? I can shim the tank but would prefer not to.

shim the stand...

i had a friend that kept his 110g hanging a lil off his dresser. i know it had more then a 1/4" difference. he never had a problem.

doesnt nee to be a certain level as long as it can be filtered its all what you think....but being level is better

well if its so unlevel it can slide off the stand

Not that bad. But your answer made me chuckle.

If its just aesthetic, since it won't be visible from the outside of the tank I'm not going to shim it. I want the weight distributed over the wider area more than I want the water perfectly level.

keep the stand flat to the tank and shim the bottom of the stand...shimming the tank can create torsional load on the tank and that's what causes them to fail...

If I shim it, I will shim the stand and not the tank. Why is it important to have it level?
