How long before ammonia spike after feeding?

I had to treat my tank with something that kills the BB in the filters. But it has been 8 days since my fish ate and a few of them are changing shape.

I need to do a big WC anyway before the last dose. So I'd like to feed the fish and try to time the water change so I yank the ammonia out right when it starts to spike. I just don't know how quickly that happens.

How long to wait until the fish start pooing and peeing? No idea! Feed, then wait a couple hours, then do WC.

Also, I've always wondered if you can use Ammonia-Chips with meds.

Hmm, good idea. I need to run to get dog food anyway, I can grab some of those too. For a few bucks it can't hurt to try it.
