How long can fish go with out eating? I have a 7 green severum and a 4 gold gourami, in a 90 gal tank. They hardly eat any food and I am going out of town for three days; four days from now.
Six days ago they were in a 55 gal. I had to move the 55 to a different room. Since I had to move it. I was going replace the gravel with sand and clean the tank. Due to its location it was starting to get green algae, I already had a brown algae problem. (The tank was in a sun room since June).
I broke the tank taking it outside. I wanted to upgrade to a 75. The four pet stores in my town were out so I got a 90gal. The two fish spent three days in a five gal tank with filter.
The got fed once.
I had switched from API proper PH 7.0 to Seachem Neutral Regulator 7.0, only to find out I also needed the Discus Buffer 5.8 - 6.8. I also used Seachem Prime and Stability because I use Seachem Purigen and Matrix. The water in my area is very alkaline over 8. The guy at the pet store I got my tank said the water in my area was over 9. Any way between my work and different trips to the store, adjusting the 5 gal tank water to that of the 90, it was on the third day before I moved the fish.
The water is at 6.8 to 7.0, ammonia 0. Water temp is 78. I transferred the Fluval 306 and Cascade 1000 to the 90.
Due to the new location, thick glass, at the ends of the tank all I see the reflection of the inside of the tank (the front is the same way). The fish swim some but mostly hang out at the ends looking at their reflection. In the past when I walked up to the tank they would come to where I was at. They do not do that any more.
The severum used to like the floating pellets now he ignores them. The gourami readily ate flakes. Both used to eat a lot.
Thanks for any info
