hello, i recently received a 2.5inch silver arowana from a friend who just got out of the hobby, only tank i had available was a 180gallon 6x2x2 with an endlicheri bichir of about 3 inches and an fx6 filter on the tank, wondering how long i could keep the little guy in there before he gets too massive? i wont be able to upgrade to a larger tank for at least another 2 years( current living situation being the problem)

1-2in per month till about 2 ft. It’ll vary but by two years it’ll be time to upgrade ASAP. Think you’ll just get by but will need to plan ahead.

Well think a 300g be fine for a while but it gotta be bigger. It’s been recommended atleast 8x4 so it’ll be bigger than a 300g.

A 400g woud be the minimum long term. Unless you get a specialty tank thats low, wide, and long like a 96x48x15 or something

Okay I'll take all this into consideration, I have alot of time to decide on dimensions, but I agree the tank needs to be at least 8ft ×4 ft
