Hi Guys
I am new to Monsterfishkeepers.I really like what I see and can learn from this site.

I got myself my first Silver Arowana about a month ago. He/She is roughly 4 inches long is eating very well, on Hikari carnivor sticks and plankton. I got it in a 180 gallon with a foot print of 6 feet long, 2 feet wide and 2 feet tall ( I will double check the foot print when I get home). I am aware that this tank is too small for the long run, however how long do you figure I have before I have to upgrade the tank or give him away?

yes, although, the question was how long
you expect me to be able to know what the growth rate of his arowana is going to be without knowing anything other than tank size? when its 24" upgrade, whether thats 6 months or 3 years ;)

IMO that is the bare minimum.

Do you mean that my tank is the bare minimum to keep him for life? That would be good news for me. It buys me some time to upgrade my tank. Its not easy finding a large tank, especially here in Montreal. Then once I find one there is also the problem of figuring out a wat of getting it into the house.

a 36" fish in a 24" wide tank isnt good you definately want bigger

I would say year to year and a half.
