So my AC110 starting leaking today - not suprised really, it had a crack in the side for awhile.

How long can I run without a filter on the tank?
Its a 4ft, approx 300ltrs. Single occupant is a 25cm Murray Cod.
Have airstones and plants in tank as well.

Can really afford to buy a new filter for a week or 2.

Not sure but it sounds as if Murray is almost a foot long so it is probably giving off a good amount of wastes. Its good that you have an airstone but I would do partial water changes at least every other day with light feedings.

I would go no longer than possible . You will be ok long enough to fix your filter. Ive had it happen to me before too. Fixed it with silicone. Just keep and eye on you water parameters. Here is a little idea to keep your bacteria alive durring this. Get a small container, fill with tank water, put a air sone in there and place bio media on top of the air stone. The air stone and tank water should keep the bio alive long enough for you to repair your filter. Or if possible you can put the media bag in the tank the same way and it should do the same thing and also and should help keep ammonia out.

Thanks. I have put the bio on the air stone in tank and will cut back feeding to every 2nd day for now.
Going to try and silicone up the leak. Not sure how it will go though?
Will order a new ac110 next week.

If you can find a nontoxic epoxy that could also work. The silicone worked for me but i seem to remember the only problem is the silicone can get peeled of very easily. If i remember right i think i eventually redid mine with epoxy unfortuinately i dont remember the brand. Are you planning on continuing using the filter after you get you new one? If so i would try to find the epoxy it will last longer. Just make shure to seal inside and out.

Hello; Bubblers and water changes from time to time can go for a long time. I have run tanks with only air stones or only sponge filters. The detritus will tend to build up so can be siphoned out.
A long time ago affordable(for me) power filters were not common and I used only air powered bubblers and filters for many years.

I've patched it up with some silicon. At moment I have it running in the sink just to make sure it doesnt leak again and to get the silicon residue out.

Next decision is to I go with another AC110 or something else?
I have a eheim 2217 on my other tank, seems to work fairly well.

Id stick with the ac110 IMO they are the beat HOB filter on the market. Besides you cant beat 500gph flow.
