I have been trying to get my freshwater teacup off of blood worms which he has been eating since time of purchase (8 months approx). I have been trying to feed him tilapia. Krill has been offered to him too. I may try and get some market shrimp tomorrow. So far it has been three weeks. he looks and acts normal but still will not accept the tilapia. Is it ok for them to go this long without food? Any ideas?

I would try some cut up eartrhworms

You may also want to try soaking any new food you are offering him in bloodworms before feeding

I wouldn't really reccomend starving a ray

Ok thanks guys. I will try a few things and if I have no luck then I guess its back to blood worms on Monday. There gotta be something else he'll readily accept besides bloodworms though. Chopped up earthworms may be a bit hard to get unless I physically go catch them myself. Im not aware of any bait shops in this area.

I currently switching my Leo's over to market shrimp after being on bloodworms for a couple of months. As you will read on this forum from several members, I've cut the shrimp up into bit size pieces and put them in a container of blackworms. The small pieces will absorb the flavor of the worms more easily. I've also mashed up some of the worms so they bleed onto the shrimp also. I've been at it for a weeks and they've begun taking market shrimp. So it will be strictly shrimp without soaking.
