How long can a 5-6 inch arowana live in a 55gallon (40x20x20inches)?
With two parrot fish.
It will not be there long as i will only be growing it for a freind who has a 300gallon. This is why i want to know how long to expect untill i have to move it.
Thanks :)

Give it 6 moths to a year (if its well fed and well taken care of) and it wont be able to turn around very easily...if its a typical 55

I told you Ryan it's not very long !

ThatsOk i have just added the size above so you can tell me a better idea of how long.

Try 6 to 9 months then you will seriously need to consider getting a larger tank the arowanas barbels will start to curl thats a sign that you'll need to move him ASAP.

People underestimate how fast these fish can acctually grow it's bettter to buy these fish when you own a large tank something like a 180 gal saves stressing the fish when he out grows your 55gal and changing tank.

When they are still small expect 1 to 2 inches of growth per month.

My 4.5"-5" arrow lasted 8 months in a 55 before I had to upgrade...They grow fast like rallysman said, at least 1 inch per month or more when they're young

Thanks alot guys, i
am really thinking of one.

be sure you can support it for life, eventually youre going to need at least a 180

I will not have it for life only until it reaches 12inches as i will be growing it for my freinds 235gallon tank, as he has big oscars and they will eat him while he is small so i said i would grow it for him.
What do you think?
Jardini or silver?
Which grows slower? but is the easier one to keep?
