How long do Hepsetus odoe - African Pike Characin take to mature?

How long does it take for the Hepsetus odoe aka African Pike Characin to grow to mature form?

The top is the matured pike. I read that it can grow to over 2 feet.

Not to long around 2-3 years i'd say but i'm not possative

They do grow fast when taken proper care of and are said to be short lived so i would assume that they will mature quickly

I've seen adults with much better colors than the first one pictured they only get 12" or maybe 16" in aquaria TMK

They grow pretty fast, but will not get close to 2 feet in the aquarium.

His diet is mainly just shrimp.

I've been trying to get mine to eat shrimp. It simply is not interested. How did you do it?

He has always eaten shrimp. I never had to train him. Is yours only eating feeders?

Yup. And it is getting really costly.
