Hey guys, I have a really old test kit. It's probably from 2005, will those chemicals pretty much last forever or should I get a new one just to be safe?

If it is an API test kit there will be a number printed on the bottle. The last 4 digits are month and year it was manufactured. Most of the chemicals expire 3 years after this date. Nitrite and freshwater ph are good for 4 years after the date I believe.
I am not sure that they actually expire. I have a kit that is 10 years old. I got the same readings with the ammonia test on that kit as I did with a new kit.
The expiration times I gave are just what the company says. After those dates, they're not guaranteed to be accurate.
... any testing cannot be guaranteed to be accurate. They can be close but never right on accurate.
I think you get what I'm saying. After those dates they are more likely to be more inaccurate than they originally were.
