Hi,
In preparation for my tank upgrade, I have bought 2 eheim 2028 and have it running on my existing 100 gallon tank(which has another eheim 2028 and 2 emperor 400 running).
The tank is stocked with a dozen 2-3 inch CA/SA cichlids and 6 2-3 inch different plecos. I do 25% water changes twice weekly and I keep the temperature of the tank at 78 degrees.
My plan is to running this setup until I get my 240/300 gallon setup(in a few month) and then transfer these filters on the new tank. I will probably get one more Eheim 2028 filter for the larger one then(I can't add more to the current setup. Eventually as I transfer stock to the bigger tank, I will have four Eheim 2028s running in the larger setup(with more fish stock of course).
Question: How long does it take for these filter to "mature" so with moderate increases in stock, I will not have to go through full cycle(and how can one measure bio capacity of the filter without adding ammonia into the tank?
