I poured it in my 90, and the water immadiatly looked cloudy and the visibility cut way down, jw approx. how long does it take to settle before its clear and the fish can go back in?

did you wash it beforehand? It will probably stay like that for 1 hour or so, until it settles and the filter starts pulling particles out. If you did wash it, you could stick the fish back in.

i just put sand in my 90 gal.. did you wash it before? i washed it before and got no cloudiness or anything i just had to let the tank cycle.. goodluck

A water clarity chemical will fix it up fairly quickly.. What these products do is add a binding agent that attaches itself to all the small particles, making them sticky and larger in size, allowing them to be filtered out with mechanical filtration.

Or you could be patient and allow good bacterias to grow on each granule of sand, weighing them down and making them a size large enough to be filtered out.. Could take days to weeks..

Also, pre-rinsing well will prevent this..

I would personally turn my filters off for 1 day, and then be patient and not add fish for a few weeks.. Allowing bacterias to grow on each sand particles and the tank to establish itself.. Maybe throw in some fish food to decompose and create ammonia for a food source for bacteria..

I believe most all the clarity chemicals are the same..

If I had to choose.. I would choose 'Clarity' by SeaChem.. It has the fanciest label.
