How long after i put my Sunfish in my tank will they start wanting food?? Also, what should i start them on?? And how long can they go without food? I got 'em Monday, today is Wedensday,so how would i introduce it to them,my Largie was obvious for feeding, but i got 2 1 inch sunnies and a 4 inch one and i dont want them to starve:[:[:[:[:[:(:(:(:

If they are very small, use bloodworms. If they are larger use pellets and/or flakes. Mine eats bloodworms, Omega One color and veggie flakes, and Hikari Carnivore.

I use frozen, and you're still Yelling!

Start whenever you want, offer the food and if they don't take it remove it. If dry food won't work try freezedried or frozen, if they don't work you can try live things such as earthworms. I have never had a problem getting sunfish (except rockbass) to eat flakes or pellets. They can go a very long time without food, don't know exactly how long (depends on health and such of the individual fish) but really healthy fish can go well over a week.

Thanx Sandtiger, i'd hate to see 'em starve......does the food have to float in front of 'em or do they feed at the surface?? I love these things more than storebought fish!!!:D:D:D:D:D

Well, mine are still skittish and i got 'em monday(it's now thursday) thet keep hiding behind plants.I've never had sunnies like these:(:( I'll keep posted i guess:D:D

YESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!! Finally, they took peices of cut-up earthworm,i would like it to be prepared food, but soon enough hopefully. Any of the MFK community have any tips on getting 'em on prepared food, and if any, which do they prefer themost.I'll feed 'em live food till they pass away, but we all know te conveniences of prepared food:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
