I recently adopted a abused tiger Oscar and have him on the road to recovery. I am a new fish keeper, my oscar has no appetite so out of ignorance i bought him a dozen breeders from petco (wont eat those either). Learning that the breeders are bad for Sherbert i put the breeders in a separate ten gallon tank for an alternative use. I figured i may just feed them and keep them as any other fish, and possibly when Sherbert gets his appetite back throw him one once in a blue moon. So this leads to a couple questions.... Will they breed on their own? and how long would it take? I plan on keeping water on both tanks pristine and doing regular water changes to keep ammonia and nitrites at 0ppms. Another thing is i noticed one of the minnows has little bumps like the size of salt grains on his belly towards the rear of the fish... Should i remove him as he may contain some disease? Maybe it is just cosmetic?
