How long for a Blood Parrot to settle in.

Like I posted earlier, Blood Parrots are very shy especially when they are little. Its normal for them to hide the day you bring them home and it could take time a month or two for them to settle in. If they are in a tank by themselves it might take longer for them to settle but with more tank mates they will feel more secure and come out sooner or never hide at all.

My first parrot took a month or so before he settled but once I added more parrots or other fish he settled in quick. If it is just the Severum in the tank maybe try adding another parrot or some other peaceful fish like Firemouths or Rams.

I've always kept blood parrots together in large groups and they seem to like it that way.
once I sold a guy one single parrot, it just hid in a corner of his tank
so in a week he brought it back thinking it wanted to be back with its brothers

Later I sold him three parrots at once and they are doing fine (i assume)

I bought a blood parrot a few years ago. He was a little, territorial bully from day one and not afraid of any of his tankmates. He is always out and bugging other fish. He's now in a tank with several larger fish and has grown. Blood Parrots tend to have small mouths, so his constant biting on my tire track eels, is ignored. They know he can cause no harm.
