So I have 4 Breidhori i got from Rapps back in May/June. they are about 6-7 inches now but I am not amazed yet by their colors. they seem a long way off from the ones posted on his stock list. I am hoping they will get better looking they just aren't impressing me to much yet and that makes me get the new fish itch lol. Anyone with experience have any info that would help. I will post some Pics of them this evening when i get home.

Here's a few I had, about 5 " for the female, larger male.

female above, male below.

How much water are you changing per week?
They come from areas with very low nitrate.

They look normal to me. I can see the pinkish/purple color, even in the blurry cell phone pic. At that size, that's pretty good.

They're not real big yet, and I can tell from the head shape, they don't have that full-grown mature look about the head and face. Body shape isn't totally defined yet. They still have a lot to go.

Fish, I THINK, mature different rate in different size tanks. Put those fish in a much larger tank, they'll grow a little quicker. If not, just wait. They'll grow up. Start flaring their fins all the time when they swim around.

Convict looks cool.

i wish they would sit still for me to take a better picture, the only time the are motionless is when they are staring straight at me

In nature Vieja are primarily vegetarian, and often seen taking fallen fruit an flowers from trees near the rivers edge, or grazing on algae, so for me this might suggest that some of the intensity of their coloration may be dependent on some the foods they eat.
I fed Vieja a high veggie, high Spirulina content pellet, mixed with whatever fruit or leafy greens they will accept.
Some of the high vitamin koi pellets worked well for me for adult Vieja, and other primarily vegetarian Central American species.
