So I just rescued a channel catfish that was in a 55 gal with a bunch of small cichlids that ate all of his fins off and I mean all of them so was wondering how long it will take for them to grow back? And will medicating him help with the growth

Really depends on wether the tissue or both tissue and fin rays are gone.

Tissue will come back with clean water and low stress. The ray itself doesn't seem to, or at least not in my experience.

Not sure about a channel cat. But I brought a gar home about 4 weeks ago and he came from a convict tank and his fins were chewed down to the f***ing nub. Thankfully his fins have totally regrown. Only took 3 weeks. Never going back to that fish store.

IMO and IME mela fix is useless and only makes your water stink, your eyes burn and causes your fish to breath heavily unless you add more air to the tank. Same thing with Pima fix useless products IMO

The best thing I've used is Vitachem works great easy to use and can go a long way with proper use like soaking dry foods or frozen foods with it.

I've treated fish with bad HITH craters and they've healed to the point where it's very hard to even see there was any craters on the fish to begin with.
Of course clean water is another huge factor to helping them heal.

You sound like a paid product advertiser ;)

No just an honest guy who hates useless products that are on the market draining hobbyists wallets of their hard earned money.

I fell for their claims in the past and not only did I lose the money I spent on the products I lost the fish I thought it would help.

Vitachem really does help

Kudos on saving the fish. When fins are gone completely, they rather rarely would grow back and even if they do they most likely will be small and disfigured.

If there is no red (=inflammation), there may not be a need for meds, I'd just use 1-2 teaspoons per gallon of salt, added in in portions over several days.

I too am torn on Mela/Pimafix. I used them before but not in a controlled kind of an experiment where I had a reference and/or another med to compare the results to. So, I cannot claim anything. Definitely, they didn't hurt my fish but the fish might have recovered from their small superficial abrasions on their own too in the same amount of time. I encountered several very strong opinions on Mela/Pima being useless, including some experts. I also did encounter reports where it appeared to work, sometimes even on not simple cases like cloudy eyes. At the face value of those posts, I cannot discard them as prejudiced/phoney at all.

Anyhow, IMHO, you might wanna add a prophylactic dose of Melafix - a mild natural anticeptic, especially if there is redness.
