How long for EBJD in a 10

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Anyone? What I'm thinking of doing is getting some EBJD and blue gene golds, and growing them out for a bit in my 10 gallon, weeding them out as I go along. I ultimately would love a gold dempsey and an EBJD in my 75, but they can't be added until they reach a proper size. I just want to know how big they could get in a 10 gallon before they HAD to be moved. Trust me, I don't want to keep one in a 10 for life, I just want it to not get eaten immediately lol

If you are one long island pet warehouse in carle place has a big electric blue, but it is ugly I took a picture on my phone I will upload it for you later. It was 100 dollars. They also had tiny electric blues which were 20.

I was just there yesterday. Poor guy isn't a pretty sight lol. His body is all malformed and all. They didn't have any more baby ebjd's however. Going to try Fishtown eventually, maybe see if I can get into Pacifica or Win or 123 in the city.

I had my small ebjd in a 60 grow out for about 7 months. finally everything else was getting to big and was ripping him up so i moved him to a 10g. He is fine in there and really don't expect him to out grow the 10g. For atleast a year or two. I am pretty sure many of my full grown cichlichs in the show tank will die of old age before this guy is ready to hang with the big boys.

Buy big if possible ebjd grow painfully slow I mean slower then geos get ready for a good 2 or 3 years before they are a decent size

id say he would be ok in a 10 gallon in his own with regular water changes up to about 3-4 inches at max. but i wouldn't advise it for long.

Honestly, I would probably move it/them into my 75 once they got to the 3 inch mark. I just want to be sure that they will be big enough to not get eaten by my bichir. I housed him with a 2inch EBJD like 6 years ago, when he was a few inches smaller. Didn't eat the little guy even when it was small enough to be eaten by him, but I'd rather not risk it.

I was there yesterday and they had a bunch in one of the tanks in at the back wall. So everyone else can see the worlds ugliest Electric Blue Jack Dempsey here is a picture.
