so ive treated my tank with a popular discus wormer containing Flubendazole 50mg per gram. i noticed my uaru with white poo a couple of weeks ago but it was thick like a normal poo so i didnt think it was parasites then i noticed one fm is quite thin, about a week ago, and giving out stringy white poo and generally looking weak.
anyway to the question, how quick should i notice results and the white poo stopping and if i have to give a 2nd dose how long do i wait before administering it?
the packet only states i may have to give a 2nd dose for heavy infestations and dosage measurements.
its this stuff http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270298031950&ssPageName=ADME:X:AAQ:GB:1123

cheers guys

this is why i put the wromer in

and the ones here are a bit more obvious. more has come out since putting in the worming agent so i think its doing its job but any comments would be appreciated.

i think my fish have callamanus after doing more digging. will my chosen treatment work for this?

some help please guys cos im running out of options. one more treatment type to try, waterlifes sterazin, then its euthanise the lot and steralise the tank if i get no help, believe me its the last resort. ive never had to deal with this before so its new territory for me.

the callumanus worms i can see on the barbs and i think on the acara. maybe 1-2mm poking out the anus. this is the closest parasite i can find on the illness sticky. the uaru had a solid red poo yesterday and im sure it was a clump of dead worms. the long white stringy poo seems to have stopped and ive got rid of the suspected initial carrier cos it didnt improve at all.

one uaru is having a poo now and it isnt white or stringy but it isnt a solid one like what the norm is. could be dead worms maybe. im gonna do a water change today and redose the tank. if its not gone in 2 weeks i will move on to sterazin. im also gonna try crushed garlic cloves for them to nibble on.

I'd use levamisole for camallanus, it worked well 2 years ago when some wild caught geos introduced it to my tank

i can only get levamisole through a vet here in the uk. i will try that before i go down the sterazin route.
i did a water change today and redosed with the flubendazole but i soaked bloodworm in it for a few minutes and introduced it together so the meds get into the fishes guts. i will try garlic as well. i know that here in the uk fluben 15 is what is recommended by discus keepers to treat camallanus so im apparently using the right stuff.
thanks for your help as i now have another treatment to try if this stuff doesnt work. its much appreciated especially by my fish. :D

another option for future reference, is de-worming flakes sold by Florida Guppies Plus, which has similar ingredients. I've used it before with good success. They do ship internationally I believe (if you're willing to try something like that)
