I have not bought a new fish in one year!

I am one of those 80% who voted "Yes" in the "Do you keep your fish for life" survey.

I bought quite a few Cichlids in the past few years. They grew up, and I stopped at tank #4 in my efforts to house them all.

Now I just feed the ones I have, change the water, and perform maintenance. On a positive note, I have not had to deal with any fish disease since I am not bringing in anything new.

My plan for the next year or two is to let the herd thin out through natural attrition then drop down to three tanks.

However, it does gets boring; no new species and no drama.

Now I do have other pets and hobbies that provide plenty of excitement and joy.

Do feeder fishes count?

I've gone a few months without buying anything new...I was at a point of satisfaction a short while ago and I didn't need to purchase anything new.A few deaths put an end to that though so now my plan is to make a few more key purchases to round out and complete the collection that I want.

Since I started my grow out project I have been a good boy and havent brought one fish in 4 months !!

Just got a Lima Shovelnose on this past Saturday $20 for an 8+" fish, its been about every 2wks to a month for the past year to stock my current tanks, probably done until spring/warmer weather when I plan to order the rarer fish to complete my collection.

I went about 2 years without even having an aquarium after a move. Then about 2-3 months ago I started back up. I now have 2 75's, a 40 long, a 20 and a 10.

Not to long.. though I must say I haven't lost many fish either. I've added to my collection the past year, downsized abit. but only lost a few very delicate fish. within the first week of obtaining them. since joining MFK my death rate has dropped to an all-time low, which i def intend to maintain. I've been tradeing in some fish that have out-grown my tanks or ended up not being species I particulalry like overly much.

before this I was out of the hobby for a few years.. so I didn't buy any fish, though I would go to a LFS and watch their tanks ever chance I got.
