That's hard for me to answer you have the width but you don't have the height or length but it's a good sized grow out IMO so maybe 2 years

I'll just say what I would do. I wouldn't keep one over 12" in less than 6'Lx2'Wx2'H

They love to swim and need lots of space to do it.

Ha! I would feel guilty housing that over 5 months. lets get out of the mentality of "how long" and get to thinking of providing adequate permanent housing from the start. Get a 120 gallon or get rid of your fish. Its not just about owning a cool fish, its about keeping a happy and healthy fish for the next decade or so. if you dont grow out of that mentality you will have growth stunted, depressed, dead fahakas until your practice improves. its not just about him moving right, its about bio load, and how much can your established eco system support. With a bio load as high as a fahaka, with their nuclear poops, and starving infant feeding habits, all I can say is 120 gallons, no less.

err..////

IDK how to delete that last post, I mis read that as 60 gallons and thought it was ridiculous, I apologize

I'm sorry I don't agree one bit.

Nothing wrong with using smaller tanks as grow outs as long as you maintain healthy living conditions and move the fish out and into bigger tanks as it grows.
Fahakas and other puffers are only messy if the owner doesn't do their job cleaning after they eat and performing regular WC's.

This is the second time you've jumped the gun. Relax a little bit and actually read what's been posted.

when i had mine I think she reached 12 inches in under 2 years and was btwn 16 and 18 inches by four years. I had to give her a way. The 120g she was in (4 x 2) seemed way too tight for her. I had bought the tank thinking she wouldn't out grow it.
