Hi all,

Tried doing a search for this but came up short. I have a 180 gal 6'*2'*2' which is not insulated but does get some sun light on one of the 6' sides which is painted. It has a 300Watt heater on it, did have two but one was malfunctioning.

Just wanted to know as the light is not working on this one, how long would it be running for each day to keep that expanse of water at 22C? generally the air temp inside ranges from about 16c to 20c.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

unanswerable question way too many variables:

length of sun exposure
ambient temperature
water flow
aeration
thickness of glass
ect.
sorry

Indiana is right it depends on time of year , ambient temp, how high your trying to keep water 20-25 will be totally different times . Best thing to do is watch light on heater and count !!!!! Or better keep room temp higher than you want tank then heater will be hardly needed

I think the best thing to do is buy another couple of heaters. They're not that expensive, and the lights will work, and you'll know when they're on! Just a suggestion! :nilly:
