How long should I cycle my tank?

I have been running my filter and media for awhile some media almost a year so I know that the media is good but I have drained my tank and to move it and refilled it with straight tap water and it has been running for about 3 days without fish wondering when it will be fish safe again don't want to take any chances

The best way to tell would be dose your tank with pure ammonia until it reads 2ppm and then test the water daily to make sure your bacteria is handling it.

U may wanna try a new approach? it concurrently condition the new tank, quick introduction of fishes till it fully cycle without even hurting fishes.
