I currently have a 75 gal with my bamboo(about 8 in) and I just puchased a larger tank((96*36*30) I some live sand some from another aquarium and some new and fresh sea water. I was wondering how long do you have to let the tank cycle before putting the shark in? Or is it considered cycled because the water came from the ocean.

Once the tank is cycled, its cycled and ready for fish.

A way of testing this is to let shrimp rot in tank inside a panty hose or net and watch the water results. If you read 0 amonia and 0 nitrite and rolls right over to nitrates then your good to go. Ocean water wont cycle the tank, but the rocks and sand will. If you don't want to wait just get turbo start, or a refridgorated bio start up. Then test with the rotting shrimp. I can tell you your tank is not cycled yet, and if your not adding stuff to start the cycle it never will be.

Also using seawater can put some bad things in your tank, I would stick with making your own water.

I cycled my 125 in under 2 days just 3 days ago and already have fish living and eating like pigs.
