I'm setting up a small tank for some fry, and need to cycle it. If I just stick the sponge filter inside my canister, how long will it take for it to grow a bacteria colony?

I always keep a sponge filter in my sump just for fry or emergency situations.

Thanks for the kind words but tbh I have to give some credit to members here that I've learned so much from.

In my experience 21-30 days to be sure, could be sooner but 30 days is usually my bench mark.
