i have two baby black arowanas about 5inches in 250g tank with some clown loaches and frontosas. two days ago i noticed one of the arowana is swimming halfway down the tank and they usually only stay on top. yesterday, it was swimming on the bottom of the tank. i tried feeding it but did not eat anything for the last two days. the other one is eating and swimming on top. checked the water parameter and everything is fine. so i got the sick one in another tank. raised the temp to 86-87, added aquarium salt and metafix(?). today, it is swimming on top again and eating one or two pettets. how long should i keep it in the hospital tank for?

I think the arowana is acting as it is because of bullying by the other arowana. Move it back and see if the behavior returns. If it does return try moving the healthy aro and see if the behavior returns to normal.

how can i stop the bullying? i got them both as babies and they've been together since. i dont want to sell but if they dont get along then i might have to sell one. do black arowana get along with other silver? i might just trade one black for two silver.

There is no way to make them get along, many people have tried different methods with low success. I have 4 baby black aros, they all fought so I had to put them in two separate tanks. Two get along great and the other two fight. With the two that fight they have a divider in the tank. I occasionally remove the divider hoping they'll get used to one another, but no luck so far.

You have the same crap shoot with the silver aros also, you can only try to see if it works or not.
