How long to leave old media in new tank?

I have a sponge from my old tank that sits on top of an aeration tube. The sponge is full of good bacteria and as my old tank is completely healthy.

I have put the sponge in the new tank to cycle it faster. How long should I leave this sponge in the new tank?

what is the stock on the other tank vs. the stock in the new tank? Are you feeding the bacteria? Often when I switch media to start a new tank i do it simultaneously.

Old tank was 1 large 10 inch Pleco. Im about to get rid of him anyways. Before that was a couple of firemouths.

I bought cycle to feed the bacteria.

Oh yea and Im using AC110 with ammonia remover in a 50 gallon tank.
