I recently got a new demasoni cichlid, and he is currently in my 10 gallon quarantine tank. He looks healthy and is eating aggressively. However, I don't know how long I should keep him in the quarantine tank. How long should I quarantine new fish arrivals?

As do I. If you can do longer though, it wouldn't hurt.

I QT for about 3 months, a friend who runs the aqurium at a municipal zoo, QT's no less than 6 months.
It sometimes takes certain diseases that long to become obvious.
There are at least 2 reasons for QT. the obvious one is keeping new diseases out of your main tank.
The other reason, is that often fish in the main tank, may have become somewhat immune to certain opportunistic infections over time, that the new fish may not have resistance to.
If the new fish is put among the others too quickly, it may become highly infected, and spread enough bacteria around to overcome the "herd" immunity development of the fish in the main tank.
While in QT, I add a little water from the main tank, to the QT tank every couple days, thereby gradually adapting the new fish to bacterial conditions it will be faced with later.
Some may find this regime a bit of over kill, but all it takes is 1 errant pathogen to wipe out an entire tank a few months later

I do at least 3 months like duanes. I also end up adding filter media and a test subject (separated by divider if necessary) from the main tank. This is done during the 2nd month of quarantine.
