I have a large pcs of drift wood and need to know about how long it will take to get it to sink. Its been in my garage for a few years but once was submersed. when I say larg I mean 4 feet long and 8 inchs round. I have it in a tank that I'm cycling with bricks holding it down but want it sunk befor the fish are added. Any guesses?

Thanks

Well, normally takes anywhere from one to six months generally, sometimes longer, some times shorter. Just be patient. It'll happen! :)

Suggest getting another tank and adding fish to that one, otherwise you are going to be waiting a while to add fish.

No, that is what most of us do. Sometimes you have to attach a lot of rocks though. It is just easier to pile rocks ontop of it and let it sit on the bottom of the tank. It creates a kind of cave, and the fish will use the open space between the rocks and the DW as hiding places.

Every few weeks take a few of the rocks off and see if it starts to float, if it does, put them back on.

zipties and rocks... somepeople have had wood that floated for over a year
