How long until he grows CK grows bigger?

Hey guys,

I have recently purchased a 3-4" CK that I am currently leaving it in my 30 gallon tank by himself as I am afraid of throwing him in my 220 gallon along with my Arowana, Gar, Fire eel and etc...

How long approximately would it take him to grow about 9'-10"?

Believe or not, here in Orlando I am having the TOUGHEST time of finding ClownKnifes..., let alone a bigger one. Also, since they are very cheap it does not make sense of ordering it online...$5 for fish, $30 for shipping?

Depends. I had 2 at 4" long back in August. I gave one away, slow grower, at 9" long. The one I have left is around 15" long. They are pigs and crap a lot to.

Usally in my tank is like a gang after they jump him in then hes part of the family the next day the only fish that was a easy walk in was my monster goby because he is 14 inches so the other fish fear him in size ..so i suggest you let him get use to your fish family dont let him get use to being alone as he will have trouble as a adult being with other fish

i agree with 5dollarfoot. ck should intro to it's future fish family. if live alone maybe grow faster but won't easily adapt when mix ii with other fish.

if you let the CK grow up a bit too much it will want to be the alpha in the bigger tank. i am glad i threw mine right into the mix with bigger fish.

i have 2 around 18 there in with cribbs jaguar catfish and some small flagtails. never had any probblems i got them around a year ago at 3

mine is hovering around 8-9" it showed fast growth till i had to take it out of my big tank as my cats got bigger...i am kinda in the same boat...i want it to get bigger fast but not seeming to...hopefully yours wont hover like mine is...
