Hey Guys

My friend has recently picked up a 2M by 1M tank, if your used to the old fashioned measurements of ft and inch for tanks like i prefer then i believe this comes out at 6ft 6inch by 3ft 3 inch.

Anyway, it had 5 holes in the bottom, someone kindly gave us some glass and silicone to seal the holes so i placed the holes over and sealed with plenty of silicone and i think it looked like a good job.

This was around 16 hours ago, how long until i can test fill the tank to see how good a job it was?

yeah it was marine silicone, i used a good thick layer and ensured there were no air bubbles and it looked a pretty good job i mean if air cant get in then surely water cant right?

I think the general consensus is to leave it 72 hours isnt it ?

I need to give the tank a good scrubbing anyway to make sure its all clean ready to start cycling it

I would leave it for at least 2-3 days.

Hmm why seal those holes?

I prefer adding bulkheads to them, can direcly plump to a canister or sump.
If you don't use them just close those bulkheads, much faster and user-friendly.

Anyway since you have seal them, I would wait 5 days. 2~3 days should be ok, but thats just me.

my reason for sealing was i didnt want a large bulkhead protruding the substrate. i have a lovely side with no brace which i could easily mount an overflow box on if i wanted to turn to sump, this tank is located in my friends bedroom though so he would not want a sump, 2x fx5 would be fine for him.

It is pretty good when its all plumbed nicely without having pipes down the side of the tank i will give you that
