i do believe that today is week 3-4. however it could be longer. but i have been finding fry in my tank with white spots on their backs. not really sure if it is from my socolofi or guppies, but they do not look like normal guppy fry so i am just curious how long she will hold before she releases the eggs/fry?

How long malawi cichlids keep the fry in their mouth depends on some factors.
With a temperature of around 25 degrees celcius, the fry should be fully developed in about 3 weeks. If the female thinks it is safe she will release the fry for the first time around this time. If she is kept in an aqaurium with other fish she will keep them as long as possible to protect them from the other fish.

well if they are not fertilized she may hold them for a while. I had a fish hold for a month and 3 weeks then she finally spit the eggs out and started eating again...
I have some fry in my tank, but not from that fish... Are you sure the fish in question is the parent of that fry?
