My question is, how long/big should a leichardti aro be in an 80 gallon before it becomes a health problem.

Ive had my leichardti for a little over a year and some now and it has reached about 12"+. Had her in an 80 gallon since she was 2". Ive bought two larger tanks for it in the past but both had problems or other issues preventing me from moving into a larger tank. I was just curious how long it would be alright to keep her in an 80 gallon before it would become unhealthy for the fish. Id rather sell/trade if im not able to put into a larger tank.

Dimension of the 80 gallon?

around 14 or 15 inch depending on dimension of tank

Once your fish is as long as the width of your tank, id say its time to change.

the sooner you upgrade, the more easy it will be on you and the fish during the transfer. its best to grow out the aro from the tank it deserves to live in its entire life. Id say transfer it at 12'' to a much larger tank that you think will be sufficient, imo 6x2.5x2 bare minimum if you can.

assuming your tank's width is around 18inches? i would say you COULD keep it in there until its 16-18 it wont kill him. the next tank for him should be like said above a 6x2 or 5x2 would do

80 gallon is 48"X20" and 18" tall.
I plan to put her in a 7x2 or larger (as wide as i can find). I plan to sell my 220 glass this week, if i dont im going to put her in it.

She was supposed to be in a larger tank 6 months ago, thats the only reason i asked how long, if it would be troblesome to her health.

Thanks for the help guys/girls.

I bought a 3 inch leichardti about a month ago and its now 4+ inch. He is in a 100 gal tank that's 16 inch in width. I plan to keep him in this tank until he’s 12-14 inch or until I get the bigger tank. I am Hoping to find a deal on a 3 foot wide tank preferably a 360 gal or bigger when I move in 3 or 4 months to new house.

since the width is 20 like 18 inch is the longest but the sooner the better
