How long will it last in a bucket?

Poly will be fine, and don't fill bucket up Endli will come up for oxygen. :) When you get bichir home just acclimate as usual.
 
No worrys bro u can prob go 4-6 and still have no worrys I brought a few polys and gars across states when I moved in some buckets ...8 hour drive plus the 2 hours to set my tank up at the new place made 10 and they were all still fine

fasting them for a day or two before hand will help big time.

....... ADD PRIME TO THE BUCKET WATER.......ADD A BUBBLER...... some will say no need for a bubbler, but using a bubbler ALWAYS is good practice......
 
The 3 things that are likely to kill a fish on a long travel are temperature, lack of oxygen, and ammonia.

In a few hours there will not be enough ammonia to kill a hardy fish like a poly, and if you add some prime it could last even longer.
As long as you don't cool your car super cold the poly will be fine temperature wise.
As for oxygen I have never had any problems keeping fish for long times in a bucket, and I don't feel you need a bubbler as poly's are air breathers, so it doesn't matter i the oxygen level in the water drops.
