So I have a 30 gallon planted tank with a recovering colony of el tigre endlers, a shoal of pangio shelfordii, a breeding group of giant orange rabbit snails and their babies, a few amano shrimp, some chili rasboras, and a male betta coccina I see about once a week. I recently pulled my nanolutea fry because their numbers shot down from 200 to 40 in a few weeks for some reason. I left 2 so the pair had some transitional time of getting used to the fact that they should probably start preparing to make another batch without the male getting violent. Luckily this worked, the pair swims around with their normal colors, there was slight nipping from the male but no serious chasing or anything. I saw the two remaining fry up at the surface eating something, and took that as an opportunity to pull them now that the pair was calmed down. One dove back down but I caught the other and threw it into my 30 gallon because I was too lazy to bring it all the way down to the growout tank in the basement. It's about a quarter of an inch right now, how long before it decides everything in that tank is no longer its friend? The tank receives whatever bbs is leftover from me feeding my fry. Its parents have eaten ramshorns so at that point I'm concerned about everything possible in that tank once it matures.

I’d say you have until at least 2-3 inches before everything is a food option.
