Hello--

I was quite shocked to find that my auratus is a male and is starting to change colors. I'm just wondering how long, from start to finish, does it usually take for the color change?

Thanks,

Cool--I figured there would be a range, but just wanted to get a general idea.

So, the white belly turns black, and the yellow turns black. Do the white stripes that now separate the black stripes remain and that's all you see against the black body? I've seen photos of males, but just wondered what changes to what.

Kind of exciting to find out your yellow fish is going to turn black, if you know what I mean?

sometimes they can look almost all black... but usually there will be some faint hints of the original stripes.. but they do look dark..

I have 'before' pics, and I'm going to take 'during' and 'after' pics. Should be cool to compare.

Thanx
yes...they are a nice fish.... little torpedo bodies.. i miss mine..just passed of old age..

mine started to het some black at about 10-12 months old and it was a matter of probably 2 weeks that it was obviously a male but the black will keep darkening for a while!
