I got these rays from a great source. They are captive bred and eating well at the facility that I got them from.

It took 4 days for them to eat chopped nightcrawlers (chopped because the rays are so small). Then on day 6 they are acting totally normal and have readily taken bits of chopped shrimp (AKA Market Prawn, MP, raw cocktail shrimp).

Totally Normal = moving about the tank looking for food, investigating the tank

This is a great example of how long it CAN take for these awesome little fish to acclimate to there surroundings and start acting normal.

Sometimes, a ray will eat right out of the bag! I can't state what is more normal. This is purely an informative thread provided to the general ray keeping public and future ray keeping public about how long it MAY take a newly acquired ray to get settled and eat in your tank at home.

ive seen weeks for rays to start eating...all depends on the ray imo.. some say the method of acclimating them and or the amount they are starved before shipping plays a part too...

Great point! And great information! Keep it rolling... what other things may effect the time it takes for a ray to acclimate and start eating? We generally use eating as a sign of acclimation.

well i have dumped rays in a tank and they ate right away and intern had them go a week..... same goes for dripping them sometimes they eat right away and sometimes takes awhile...
