..for BB to seed in a new canister filter if hooked on a fully cycled tank?

Some people say two weeks, but I've put HOB's on a fully cycled 55 for one week, and moved them to a lightly stocked brand new tank with only tiny spikes (.25ppm ammonia) did a 50% water change W/ prime and had no more spikes.

I would say 5-7 days.

i replaced a cheap-o canister filter with a rena xp-4. i let it run for 2 weeks before pulling the other canister and had no measurable spikes.

If you seed the new filter with established media I think 2 weeks is safe, if starting from scratch I would let it run a month especially if you have expensive stock.

^ i started from scratch, but there's no harm in waiting longer.

just test your water when you decide to pull.

out of random curiosity, are you replacing a filter or seeding one for a new tank?

Thanks all.

I'm seeding it for a new tank. Also throwing in established media into the new tank.
